It is an honor and privilege to serve as the President of Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM). I am humble and deeply grateful to the members and the office bearers in trusting me and providing me with this opportunity to lead the Federation.
In the beginning of the message, I want to say a few words in memory of Dr. Danish Zaheer. Dr. Zaheer was a valuable and highly respected member since the inauguration of AFSM. He had devoted much of his time in promoting sport medicine in Asia. During his decades of years serving in AFSM, he had played a leading role in advocating the development of the Association with dedication. We can never forget about his passion in guiding the Association. His enthusiasm and kindness will always be remembered with admiration.
To inherit the passion of Dr. Zaheer, our role in advancing sports medicine and sport sciences in the region is indisputable. AFSM was established under the leadership of its founding fatherssince 1990. Over recent years, AFSM has expanded rapidly, both in size and influence. The main objective of the AFSM is to foster the promotion of sports medicine in Asia. AFSM is a growing professional group and we are determined to bring our talents together and to maximize our regional advantages in facilitating exchanges through meetings, congress and keeping abreast of our professional development through this regional network.
