Our resolve to make AFSM more credible and visible at the International scene will continue with vigor and greater commitment. We would explore further to reach out and extend our partnership opportunities to other stakeholders with common interest to seek bilateral cooperation including research and scientific exchange, teaching and training in sports science and medicine. I am confident that the new office bearers would play an important role proactively in making this a reality.
The recent global shift and focus towards Asia presents even a bigger challenge for AFSM and its member Associations to stay abreast with the latest advancements and integration of sports science and medicine. Let us take this opportunity to implement our strategies in anticipation to the challenges that future holds.
Finally, my heartiest congratulation to all member Associations and the new Executive Committee for teaming up to support build AFSM to new heights.
Dr. Danish Zaheer
President of AFSM
It is my great honor to accept this prestigious office of the President of the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM) which commenced on 17 December 2016. I am extremely grateful to the AFSM family for showing their confidence in me and trusting me with the responsibility to lead the Federation to achieve its objectives. I wish to welcome the new Executive Committee members for their term in office and sincerely hope that together we will make AFSM more viable, vibrant and progressive to become the leading sports medicine entity in Asia.
Establishment of AFSM under the guiding principles of its founding fathers in 1990 has progressively built its foundations on strong footings by creating awareness of sports medicine across the Asian countries. In our 26 years long journey we faced many challenges that we resolved with common wisdom and stood resilient to expand exponentially to Asian continent. Recognition of Sports Medicine as a specialty among 48 Asian member countries is a commendable achievement.
